A daytrip to Freiberg

I set out in my rental car to drive the less than 50 kms to Freiberg. The town was founded in 1186 and has been a centre of the mining industry in the Ore Mountains for centuries.

I read that there is an amazing old town center at Freiberg, and I was not disappointed. While a relatively large population lives in Freberg, the old city has a feel of days gone by, with narrow cobbled stone streets, beautiful churches and an open center square.

There are wonderful cafes and restaurants, and just wandering the old streets is to feel history at its best.
